Diseases and illnesses are caused by viruses, bacteria and other pathogens and everybody is at some risk of being infected. Diseases caused by such can be effectively treated. However, some become complicated and treatment becomes impossible.

One of the minerals that has necessitated the formulation of laws is asbestos. Asbestos is a combination of several minerals that is mostly used in the construction industry. The people who are at the greatest risk of contracting the mentioned diseases associated with asbestos are those working in industries that use asbestos as their raw material. Those living near mining areas also share in the risk. Because of asbestos's hazards, several laws have been enacted to guide its use. In some countries, the use of asbestos and asbestos products have totally been banned to protect citizens.
